Chapter One's 2009 Day of Service at Coalition for the Homeless
On October 20, 2009 BNI Chapter One held its second annual Day of Service. Members volunteered their time traveling around the city feeding over 200 homeless New Yorkers a hot meal. Even more importantly, they spent time talking, listening and encouraging them that better times are ahead.
The Coalition for the Homeless is a non-profit organization based in New York City. Every night of the year they send three vans to different parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. These vans feed over 500 members of the community who are either homeless or are not able to afford the cost of food.
